Millie Houston was my great grandmother, married to Harve Houston, who appeared in this blog a while back. She was born in Galesburg, Illinois just after the Civil War, and as a young child moved with her parents to Chautauqua County, Kansas. I’ve always wondered how these sweet-looking young ladies ended up married to the bad-tempered men who were my Houston forbears. I wonder if she knew her husband had two sons with another woman, his first wife, who were living at the far end of the next county. Millie had ten children and she lived with Harve on a farm near Peru in Chautauqua County until her death in 1936.
I have a copy of the “Findley Genealogy” by Mrs. Robert A. Hughes that was reprinted in 1967 if there are any Findleys out there doing research.
I’m hoping to update my genealogy page soon. Adding info to the blog is easier than updating code. I’ve been doing a “shotgun” research lately, just hopping all over the place to different branches of the family and need to organize yet again. My filing cabinet is getting fat.
