keep out

We’ve had bad news every day at work the last several weeks. I work for a corporation which is in retail, and retail is doing almost as poorly as the stock market. Another “bad news meeting” is scheduled for this afternoon. I hope I still have a job afterwards. You know the economy is bad when rich people stop buying Gucci. And fashion doesn’t seem to relate to the laws of supply and demand.
And what is happening with gasoline? It’s too weird to see the prices going down every day. Not that I’m upset; it makes my 35 mile commute to work slightly more practical. Down the street, where the freeway crosses over the main drag, there are gas stations on 3 corners. Two of the three are very competitive, matching each other’s price every day. The third station is not so cheap, but a huge new station known for its rock-bottom prices is going up in the adjacent lot. That doesn’t bode well for Number 3 station. Just past the new construction is a 4th station, competitive with the first two. I just can’t believe we need a 5th gas station on that corner at this time.
