the contraption

A much better result utilizing my cardboard contraption. I reallly like the vignette created by the dirt on the lens, and that old 1960s era sign just borders on the surreal. At least my brain thinks so.
contraption.jpgcontraption-flat.jpgHere are some photos of the “contraption.” It’s just a piece of  cardboard that I’ve scored so I can fold it into a box that slides down over the lenses and the film winder of the camera. I made it long enough so when I insert the end of the lens hood into the cardboard it’s just about the right distance from the ground glass to get the image there in focus. I mostly manual focus because the autofocus isn’t sure where it should stop. You can see I’ve got the Argoflex mounted on a tripod, and for me this is a necessity. I just can’t hold all this stuff steady. One of the challenges is to capture all four corners of the ground glass when you snap your shot. Once again, I’m not very steady at it yet. Having all four corners in the DSLR’s viewfinder is a good indication that your lens is nicely perpendicular to the ground glass.
