I spent much of the weekend sorting through several boxes of clipped art, and harvesting pages from my stack of magazines. I sat on the floor and distributed the clippings to special piles. Along the way I composed two and a half collages. This is actually the haphazard way I come up with most of […]

I’m on my second moleskine, and I’m still infatuated with them. I’m infatuated with mine, anyway. I carry it with me most of the time so I can jot down notes, record names of songs, and generally keep track of stuff. Kind of like what I used to do with a checkbook to keep track […]

Kinda how I feel about the bailout. Yeah, it’s a huge chunk of money, but will we be able to recognize our little bit when we see it? And will it be in a form that we can take bites out of? Or will it just be an oddity we don’t know what to with?

I had some down time at work yesterday, and I didn’t have my laptop (missed Twitter), so I was surfing the web looking for some Photoshop tutorials. Along the way I found Brusheezy, which has a fabulous collection of Free brushes you can add to your Photoshop Library. I particularly liked the ones listed under […]

After fooling around with digital collage in Photoshop yesterday, my hands were twitching for the feel of cold steel scissors and sticky acrylic adhesive. Maybe I’m thinking about privacy issues too much, because this is one of the things my fingers pulled out of my brain.

I don’t know why I make things complicated. This project, which has been lying on my bedroom floor for about two months is a good example. I started out with a piece of kraft envelope that I’d experimented on with pen and paint, and found a headline and an eyeless model whose peepers had been […]

I threw the newspaper down in disgust. The thermometer outside my kitchen window openly displayed his betrayal. I trusted that cleancut crewcut boy from New Jersey. He whispered softly to my eager ears, “sunny. clear. no chance of rain.”
It’s sunny. It’s clear. No chance of rain. And it’s friggin’ twenty degrees outside. My fingers […]

Hanna inspired me to “get crafty” with her Gift Tag Tutorial yesterday, so I headed out in search of glitter. The day was full of sunshine and warmth; so nice after the ice and snow earlier in the week. I found a cheap packet of glitter for under a dollar at my local Michael’s and […]
